FP01 REFERENCE MAIN BOARD / PWMX4 REV 3.0
PWMX4 is a 4-circuit PWM dimming reference board that carries SAIence's common control board FP01. The signal circuit on PWMX4 converts the PWM signals generated by the PSoC 4 on FP01 into PWM dimming signals compatible with Japanese lighting fixtures.

01 — HOW IT WORKS
SAIence sells the common control board FP01 and the software that runs on it. PWMX4 is a reference board verified in combination with FP01. After confirming operation with the evaluation test board, the customer builds the production main board to suit the application and enclosure.
NOTEThis page presents PWMX4 as one example of a main board used with FP01. For FP01 itself, see the FP01 product page →.
02 — SYSTEM
FP01 handles communication, processing and PWM generation; the main board carries the power supply, RS485 driver and the circuit that converts to dimming signals. Because the roles are divided, the function changes simply by redesigning the main board.
Receives 12-byte commands from the higher-level controller. The driver IC is mounted on PWMX4.
PWMX4The RA4M1 on FP01 interprets commands and manages addresses, groups and dimming levels.
FP01On instruction from the RA4M1, generates PWM dimming signals for 4 circuits.
FP01The signal circuit on PWMX4 converts them into PWM dimming signals compatible with Japanese lighting fixtures and outputs them to 4 circuits.
PWMX403 — 4CH PWM
Dimming levels are specified as logical values 0–1000 (0.0–100.0%). PWMX4 has 4 local addresses and can be controlled per channel or per group. The duty of the output PWM signal is inverse to the dimming level: 0% dimming gives 100% duty, and 100% dimming gives 0% duty. Try it with the sliders below.
* The waveform illustrates the PWM dimming signal PWMX4 outputs to lighting fixtures (duty = 100% − dimming level).
04 — SERIES
The FP01 firmware identifies the main board by its module type ID and switches the number of local addresses and the control method. PWMX4 is type ID 3. For every type, the customer builds the main board; SAIence provides reference boards verified in combination with FP01 for evaluation.
